He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Robert Gainey and Willie Esther Alford Gainey; his son Greg Howell; his siblings, Thomas Gainey, Lance Gainey and Maxine Gainey Gibbs; his nephew Donald Gibbs; and his great grandchild Drew Carolynn Howell.
He is survived by: his wife Jeanette Gainey; his children, Debbie Howell Acosta (Mark), Jeff Howell (Carol) and Chris Howell (Debra); his brother Kenneth Gainey; his great grandchildren, Luke Howell (Kim), Dusty Howell (Stephanie), Gabe Falcasantos (Kylie), Lucie Falcasantos, Manny Falcasantos, Olivia Wallace (Sam), Caroline Miles (Cole), Lucas Howell (MaKenna), Talon Howell, Lily Howell and Tziporah Wallace; and his great great grandchild Riplee Ann Howell. He is also survived by His extended family includes four nieces and one nephew, as well as cherished grandchildren.
