He is survived by: his wife Myrtle Marie Carter; his children, Melody Nave (Brad) and Steven Carter (Michelle); his nephew James Carter; and his sisters, Faye Carter Carlisle and Linda Sue Carter Clemons. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren.
