He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Alton and Virginia Powers. He is survived by: his children, Sydney Powers Burns (Blake) and Mark Allen Powers, II; his grandchildren, Simms Harrison Burns and Keller Blakeney Burns; and his siblings, Yvette Powers Johnson (Eddie), Stephanie Powers Bailey (Bart) and Marion Alton Powers, Jr. (Cindy).
