She was predeceased by : her parents, Mike Brooks and Ada Brooks (Christopher); her husband G. C. "Buddy" Lawson, Jr.; and her son-in-law Marc Shores. She is survived by : her children, Nancy L. Shores of Athens, AL and Grover C. Lawson III (Vicki) of Sardis, MS; her grandchildren, Nicholas Lawson Shores (Helen), Heather Jarmon (Phillip), Hannah Peters (Ben), Julie King (Jason) and Skyler Lawson; her great grandchildren, Chyanne Jarmon, Cameron Jarmon, Olivia Peters, Lawson Peters, William Shores, Anne Evans King, Brooks Shores, Darby King and Brinson Shores; and her siblings, Harold Brooks (Linda), Joe Brooks (Donna Kay), Kathleen Wales, Marjorie Pepper and Betty Bullington.

Visitation was held on Sunday, April 7th 2024 from 1:30 PM to 2:20 PM at the Limestone Chapel Funeral Home (322 US-31, Athens, AL 35611). A funeral service was held on Sunday, April 7th 2024 at 2:30 PM at the same location.
