He was predeceased by: his parents, Coleman Sims and Reba Sims of Tanner, Alabama.; and his grandparents, Leonard, Dora Sims, Mackie Poff, Marvin and Della Bauer.
He is survived by: his wife Sherry Sims of Tanner; his children, Kimberly Eastep (Deshon) and Lance Sims (Marie) of Athens; his stepsons, Dustin Murphy of Madison and Heath Murphy (Raquel) of Madison; his grandchildren, Tyler, RileyAnn Sims, Savannah and Brayden Eastep; his stepgrandchildren, Luna and Stella Murphy; and his siblings, Linda Roberts (Ricky) of Athens, Don Sims (Susan) of Athens and Ronnie Sims (Karen) of Athens. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:45 PM at the Limestone Chapel Funeral Home (322 US-31, Athens, AL 35611). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 23rd 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
