He was predeceased by: his parents, William Pierce Hunter Sr. and Percy Garner Hunter; his wife Bobbie Windham Hunter; and his sisters, Sarah Hunter Smith and Martha Hunter DeBusk.
He is survived by: his children, William Pierce Hunter (Bill) and Cathy Hunter of Athens; his grandsons, Bryan William Hunter (Amy) of Chatham, NY and Adam Barton Hunter (Kristen) of Saluda; Hannah Michelle Hunter of Fayetteville.
