He was predeceased by : his parents, Fonnie Helton and Junie Helton; his siblings, Leople Peacock, Ima Crawford, Robert Helton and Kendral Helton; and his grandson Randall Helton.

He is survived by : his wife Gladys McLain; his sister Nelda Jernigan; his sons, Clay Helton (Susan) and Rex Helton; and his grandchildren, Clay Helton Jr., Morgan Scott (Nate) and Myles Helton. He is also survived by step-grandchildren, great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 23rd 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Robinsonville Baptist Church (4299 Robinsonville Rd, Atmore, AL 36502). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 23rd 2024 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
