He was predeceased by: his parents, Jackson Lafayette Sr. and Thelma Viola Bratcher Sharpless of Atmore, AL.; and his siblings, Carlton Sharpless, Waldene Sharpless Argroves, Joyce Sharpless Hogg and Carolyn Sharpless Smith.

He is survived by: his siblings, Ronnie Sharpless (Margaret), Lynn Fralick and Brenda Cruce (David); his sons, Glenn Sharpless (Jeannie), Larry Sharpless (Shellie) and Allen Sharpless (Gina); and his grandchildren, Brandon Sharpless (Ally), Jay Sharpless (Mahryn), Aaron Sharpless, Samantha Corley (Tony) and Andrew Sharpless (Maggie). He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
