With sadness, we share the passing of Shirley Ann Grunert of Atmore, Alabama. Shirley, born on July 12, 1944, passed away on July 1, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Sephers Jackson and Novella Jackson; her son Boyd Johnson (Tonya); and her brother Billy Jackson (Brenda). She is survived by: her spouse Horst-Werner "Mike" Grunert; her children, Angela Colley (Keith), Karen McRae (Mark), Teri Peterson (Mike), Kacie Campbell (Rodney), Eric Grunert (Mary), Heidi Grunert and Chris Grabarkwitz; her grandchildren, Jared, Christina, Malcolm, Mackenzie, Jordan, Joshua, Kela, Michael, Janae, Gwyn, Cally, Mecoa, Ellie and Bailey; her sisters, Betty, Joyce, Hilda and Linda; and her children, Mike and Shirley.
In lieu of flowers, it would make Shirley so happy to see donations sent to St. Jude or Shriners Hospitals for Children, whom Mike and Shirley have supported for years, or St. Louis Children's Hospital, where her granddaughter is currently being treated.
