She was predeceased by : her husband Roy Godwin; her parents, Thomas Whitehurst and Anna Whitehurst; her brother Neville Whitehurst; and her parents-in-law, Clark Godwin and Myrtle Godwin.

She is survived by : her children, Jason Godwin (Tara) of Mobile, AL and Dena Strength (Terry) of Atmore, AL; her sister Thelma Robinson (Don) of Bay Minette, AL; and her grandchildren, Petty Officer Chandler Strength, Ashleigh Anna Strength, Chase Godwin and Luke Godwin.
