He is survived by: his wife Linda Gates of Atmore, Alabama; his children, Justin Gates (Sarah) of Loxley, Alabama and Alison Fournier (Chad) of Atmore, Alabama; his brother Robert Gates of Lowndsboro, Alabama; his grandchildren, Jordan, Jesse, Savannah, Darrian, William and Anna; his great grandchildren, Viola, Dash, Atlas, Scarlett, Maggie and Jack Sheppard; and his pets, Brie and Briscoe.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 9th 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Petty Funeral Homes (9260 US-31, Atmore, AL 36502). A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 10th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Alabama State Veterans Memorial Cemetery (34904 AL-225, Spanish Fort, AL 36527).
