He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Brooks and Mattie Brooks; his grandmothers, Lillie Mae Davis and Ida Thrash; and his brother Donnis Brooks.

He is survived by: his wife Janice Brooks of Gautier; his children, Kimberly Brooks-Gates (Tywan) of Mobile, Alabama and Jason Arnell Marshall Brooks of Mobile, Alabama; his stepchildren, Talishia Stewart of Columbia, Rodney Stewart of Biloxi, Mississippi, Kenyetta Brown of Biloxi, Mississippi, LaKendra Brown of Biloxi, Mississippi, Colin Brown of Biloxi, Mississippi and Nacosha Brown of Biloxi, Mississippi; his grandchildren, Sadie LianeyMarshall Brooks, Marcus Renard Jackson, Cameron Darnell Brooks and Madison Marie Portis; and his stepgrandchildren, Yazmin Cooper, Xander Cooper, Rodney Stewart Jr., Liam Stewart, Kadren Magee, Gabreanna Magee, Kaniya Jackson, Miriam Morris, Jakai Brown, Sanyi Brown, Gregory Boyden and Jayden Boyden. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
