He was predeceased by: his parents, Fate Arthur and Mary Lou Hill Whitehead; and his siblings, Milton Whitehead, Billy Whitehead and Doris Dean McMurry.

He is survived by: his son John Roger Whitehead; and his brother Lowell Whitehead. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
