It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Betty Jean Tate Paulk (Bessemer, Alabama), born in Abernant, Alabama, who passed away on April 28, 2026, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her husband Lee Paulk; her son Adam Watts; her grandson Joey Dudley; her parents, Paul Tate and Carrie Tate; and her siblings, Mary Rogers, Zeke, Gene and Boots Moses.
She is survived by: her daughters, Tracy Cruz (Celso), Kelly McKenzie, Wendy Minor and Amanda Byrd (Rusty); and her sisters, Peggy Rosser and Linda Sue Thornell (David). She is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, May 4th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Bessemer Brown Service Funeral Home (1300 4th Ave N, Bessemer, AL 35020). A funeral service was held on Monday, May 4th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, May 4th 2026 at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
