He is survived by: his wife Rita Bates; his daughters, Christy Bates Killingsworth (Andy) and Dawn Bowen (Stephen); his grandchildren, Hunter Bates, Chase Byars and Hope Jones (Ben); his great grandchildren, Colten Bates, Jolene Bates, Andrew Jones and Jackson Byars; his brother Mike Bates (Becky); and his pet Copper.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the McCalla Memorial Funeral Home (4780 Letson Farms Pkwy, McCalla, AL 35111). A celebration of life will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
