We announce the death of Alfred Thomas Sr. (Birmingham, Alabama), born in Dolomite, Alabama, who passed away on October 1, 2026, at the age of 90. He was predeceased by: his parents, Jule Thomas Sr. and L. C. Thomas; and his son Alfred Thomas Jr.. He is survived by: his spouse Willie Jean Haygood; his daughters, Diane Hall (Alfred), Henrietta Glover, Daphne Thomas and Tamara Gillespie; his grandchildren, Susanne Crittenden, Cornelius Glover, Mya Glover, Kathlyn Gillespie and Sharletta Glover; his great grandchildren, Jaiden Hodo, Jordan Hodo and Emori Jones; and his siblings, Jule Thomas II, Willie Thomas (Freddie), Betty Taylor, Mary Greer, Doris White, Lucinda Grant and Doris Grant.
Viewing will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Poole's Funeral Chapel (1501 7th Ave N, Birmingham, AL 35203). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the New Bethlehem Baptist Church (1432 Mills St, Dolomite, AL 35061). A burial will be held on Saturday, October 10th 2026 at the Highland Memorial Gardens (3115 18th Ave, Bessemer, AL 35020).
