It is with sadness that the passing of Caroline Burgess Thompson of Birmingham, Alabama is shared. Caroline, born on February 9, 1935 in Nashville, Tennessee, passed away on September 24, 2026. She was predeceased by: her parents, George Gant, Sr. and Elizabeth Gant; her brother George L. Gant, Jr.; and her husbands, James H. Burgess and Rapael Thompson (Rip).
She is survived by: her children, Cathy Burgess (Russell Rumelt), James Michael "Mike" Burgess (Karen), Paula Gossett (Kerry), Penny Monella (V. J.), Dawn Wolfe (Andrew) and Rhett Thompson; her grandchildren, Jessica Skellett (Jake), Stephanie Brown (Ted), Matt Gossett (Traycee), Matthew Wolfe (Sarah), Monica Roden (Dusty), Meredith Alsabrook (Scott), Kelley Olis (Kurt), Heather Burgess (Michael Walters), Reid Rumelt, Madison Simpson (Zavry) and Paige Rumelt; and her great grandchildren, Caroline Skellett, William Brown, Andrew Skellett (A. J.), Sadie Brown, Wyatt Gossett, Brody Roden, Sam Gossett, Allie Roden, Shep Olis, Wade Olis, Virginia Olis, Silas Alsabrook and Sawyer SimpsonJake Skellett.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 27th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Springville Methodist Church (6471 US-11, Springville, AL 35146). A memorial service will be held on Sunday, September 27th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the same location.
