He was predeceased by: his mother Leola Frey; his wife Joyce Frey; his father George Peter Frey; and his siblings, Ben Frey and Janice Frey.
He is survived by: his close friend Joan Faulkner; and his son Eric Frey (Clelia Stefanini).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or the Alabama Bluegrass Music Association.
