He is survived by: his wife Eugenia Susan Jemison (Jeanie); his sons, Dr. George Wheeler Matthews III (Kim), Robert Jemison Matthews and Dean Dillard Matthews (Susan); his grandchildren, Elizabeth Tyler Buck, Allie Matthews Coble (Edward), Jemison Matthews Lutken (Gordon), Katherine Matthews Ghazi (Kaywan), Amanda Wheeler Matthews, Caine Jemison Matthews, Ronald Lorne Ellerbeck Jr. (Sarah), Elizabeth Lauren Ellerbeck, Cameron Wheeler Ellerbeck, Graham Sevier Matthews and Ellison Bay Matthews; and his great grandchildren, Benjamin Walker Buck, Hattie Elizabeth Buck, Clara Jane Coble, Edward George Coble, Caroline Matthews Coble, Leila Elizabeth Ghazi, Gordon Currey Lutken Jr., Willard Arthur Lutken, Elers Sevier Lutken and Brooks Ellis Ellerbeck.
