Though James may no longer walk beside us, his memory will forever be enshrined in the fabric of the lives of those James touched, a beacon of light guiding us through the darkness. In his absence, his spirit lives on — a gentle whisper in the breeze, a ray of sunlight on a cloudy day, a reminder that love knows no boundaries.
He is survived by: his wife Edith Martin; and his children, James E. Martin Jr. (Cheryl), Jeff Martin (Maxine) and Jan Dempsey (Mike). He is also survived by seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 24th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home (1591 Gadsden Hwy, Birmingham, AL 35235). A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 24th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 3:30 PM at the Jefferson Memorial Gardens East (1591 Gadsden Hwy, Birmingham, AL 35235).
