It is with sadness that the passing of John Lawrence Ward in Birmingham, Alabama is shared. John Lawrence, born on December 16, 1940 in Saint Paul, Minnesota, passed away on October 16, 2026. He was predeceased by: his parents, William E. Ward and Mary Clapp Ward; his brother William E. Ward Jr.; the mother of his children Elizabeth Fobes Murphy (Mary Galvin Ward); and his stepdaughter Emily Gregory.
He is survived by: his wife Margaret; his brother Charles; his sister-in-law Susan Ward; his sons, Todd (Lindy Ward), Scott (Sarah Ward) and Brad (Melissa Ward); his grandchildren, Hailey, Elizabeth, Logan, Laurel of Lucy, TJ and Oliver; his stepson Benjamin Gregory; and his great grandchild Freya. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 27th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Lester Memorial Methodist Church (108 3rd Ave E, Oneonta, AL 35121). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 27th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
