Joy Higgenbotham Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Joy Higgenbotham (Birmingham, Alabama), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on August 6, 2025 at the age of 97. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Charles Brookover Crook and Ima Pearl Stevens Crook; her cousin Sundays; her husband John William Higgenbotham; her siblings, James Richard Crook, C. B. Crook, Inabelle Crook Bryant, Doris Crook Lenderman and Carole Crook Hanks; her niece Susan Hanks; her nephews, Terry Hanks and Randy Hanks; and her children, John, Jay (Dawn) and Jamie.
She is survived by: her nephews, Charles Bryant (Linda Bryant Daley), Darrell Hanks, Dave Hanks, Gary Lenderman (Kathy Lenderman Zinn) and Larry Lenderman; her grandchildren, Charles Higgenbotham, Jackie Higgenbotham, Casey Fullilove Palmer (David) and Rebecca Cohen Kipp (Eric); and her great grandchildren, Charlie Palmer, Tempie Palmer and John Sherwood Kipp.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Joy's favorite charities: the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Arthritis Foundation.
