She was predeceased by: her parents, Drayton Burke Hayes and Minnie Brooks Hayes; her husband Tom Rast; her siblings, Martha Hayes Leath, Pat and Brooks Hayes; her son-in-law Steve Lauten; and her grandson Keith Baker Arendall, Jr..

She is survived by: her daughters, Martha Rast DeBuys (John), Nan Rast Lauten and Jane Rast Arendall (Keith); her grandchildren, Tommy Dewey (Helen), Alex Arendall, Hayes Arendall (Natalie), Billy DeBuys (Emily), Drayton Arendall (Megan) and Bradley Arendall Maroules (Nick); and her stepgrandchildren, Forrest DeBuys (Katherine), Holly DeBuys, Brian Lauten (Paige) and Wright Lauten (Anna). She is also survived by thirteen great grandchildren.

She was on the boards of the YWCA and the St. Vincent's Hospital Foundation, and a member of South Highland Presbyterian Church.
