She was predeceased by: her parents, William "JT" Hipp and Stella Mae Hipp (Lewis E. Aitken, Sr); her sons, Lewis E. Aitken, Jr. and William Howard Aitken; her granddaughter Cassandra Leigh Aitken; her daughter-in-law Renee Aitken; her grandson-in-law William Burgess; and her siblings, Carolyn Lowery, Catherine Ogburn, Chalmers Hipp, Ernestine Whitten, James Hipp and Eleanor Brasher.

She is survived by: her grandchildren, Tammy Burgess, Michelle Chappell (Joseph), Terri Braden-Pedarla (Vijaya), Daniel Aitken (Melissa) and Duane Aitken (Stephanie); her great grandchildren, Winsley Handley (Nathan), Charlie Burgess, Michael Burgess, Nicholas Tanguay (Faith), PJ Braden, Tyler Aitken, Matthew Aitken, Andrew Aitken and Olivia Aitken; her great great grandchildren, Vincent Burgess, Victor Handley, Christian Handley, Ivy Burgess and Briar Burgess; her sister Jane Coshatt; and her friend Catrina Bland (James). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life was held on Sunday, December 7th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Kilgroe Funeral Home (1750 Ashville Rd, Leeds, AL 35094). A graveside service will be held on Monday, December 8th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the same location. A procession will be held on Monday, December 8th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Forest Crest Cemetery (5730 US-78, Birmingham, AL 35210).
