With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Ronald Pierce Layne of Birmingham, Alabama, born in Ashland, Kentucky, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on March 20, 2026 at the age of 92. He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Layne and Ruby Ball Layne; and his brothers, Howard Lester "Sonny" Layne and Leonard Raymond "Skip" Layne. He is survived by: his wife Ann Keeney Layne; his children, Ronald Pierce Layne, Jr. (Odessa) and Jordan Layne Sanders (Mark); his grandchildren, Laurin Sanders White (Bryan), Ian Hunter Layne (Caroline), Layne Michelle Sanders, Zachary McKibben Sanders (Anna) and Kieran Wolfgang "Wolfie" Layne; his great grandchildren, Tucker Shields White, Levi McKibben Sanders, Vaughan Sanders White and Campbell Brock Sanders; and his sister Elizabeth Layne "Libby" Rogers (Mark).
