She was predeceased by: her parents, Will Banks and Avery Mae Martin Banks; her sons, Roland Thomas, Jr. and Tommy Lee Dawson; her husband John B. Dawson; and her siblings, Elder Nellie Mae Jones and Reverend William L. Banks.
She is survived by: her daughter Avery L. Thomas Smith of Birmingham, Alabama; her sister Mildred Garrett; and her grandchildren, Joseph Smith, Jr., Stacey Bacon (Carl), TaDarious Dawson, Trevell Dawson, Christopher Dawson, Rhoda Ann Thomas and Roland Thomas III. She is also survived by great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, friends.
