Walter Pete Crye Obituary
With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Walter Pete Crye (Birmingham, Alabama), whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on November 1, 2025 at the age of 80. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Walter Pete Crye to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Clyde Crye and Margaret Amelia Crye (Crye); his stepfather James Albert Beckett; his sister Elizabeth Gail Manning (Crye); and his former wife JoAnn Crye (Rittenhouse).
He is survived by: his wife Sue Crye (Blanks); his children, Walter Pete Crye, Jr. (Krisalyn) and Kim Rickels (Crye) of JP; his stepsons, Andrew Blanks (Brendt) and Matthew Blanks (Lawson); his stepgrandchildren, Madilyn, Patrick Crye, Sarah, Lexi Thornton, Gracalynn, Kinsley Rickels, Sara, Abigail, Caroline and Paul Blanks; his sibling's children, Scott Manning, David Manning (Concetta), Shaun Forshey (Nicole), Christy Zbytniewski (Ed), Grace Harris (Jake) and Bridget McAlister (Heath); and his brothers-in-law, Rocky Forshey and John Tully. He is also survived by three great-nephews and five great-nieces.
Visitation was held on Thursday, November 6th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Hope Community Church (4445 Montevallo Rd, Birmingham, AL 35213). A celebration of life was held on Thursday, November 6th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
It was Pete's wish that any memorial tributes be made in the form of charitable donations to Hope Community Church (http://www.hopebhm.org.).
