He was predeceased by: his parents, Leroy Costner and Katherine Costner of Birmingham; his sister Jane Costner Terry of Jacksonville, FL.; and his grandfather Roy (Auburn). He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Herren (Bebe); his brother David Costner (Deana) of Orlando, FL; his children, Jean Thomason (Chris) of Franklin, TN, Lynn Farris (Will) of Birmingham, Walter Costner (Kim) of Brentwood, TN and Sissy Boone (John) of Birmingham; his grandchildren, Banks, Marcus Farris, Marilyn, Christopher Thomason, Wiley, Katie Brooks, Alice Boone, Logan, Thomas and Kyle Costner; and his great grandchildren, Finley, Oakley Farris and Presleigh Costner.

In lieu of flowers, the family has established a Roy Costner Legacy Project.
