He was predeceased by: his parents, Martha E. Perry and James S. Perry. He is survived by: his siblings, Jimmie Gwendolyn Perry, William James Perry and George W. Perry (Walter); his wife Rose S. Perry; his children, Walter S. Perry (Ashlie), Charles D. Wheeler and Katrina S. Jennings (Paul); and his granddaughters, Kristina Jennings, Kelisha Jennings, Caryn Monday (Quadarius) and Lauryn Wheeler. He is also survived by four great granddaughters.

Visitation was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Smith & Gaston Funeral Services (102 6th Ave SW, Birmingham, AL 35211). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:45 PM at the Agape Ministries (328 Robison Dr, Birmingham, AL 35215). A burial was held on Saturday, September 12th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Elmwood Cemetery (600 Martin Luther King Jr Dr, Birmingham, AL 35211).
