He was predeceased by: his parents, John Edgar Stringer and Ollie Mae Bartlett; his stepfather Ernest Bartlett; and his children, Melinda Gaye "Mindy" Stringer and Edgar Allen "Eddie" Stringer.
He is survived by: his wife Peggy Stringer; his daughter Melissa Madden (Jeff); his granddaughters, Falan Buie-Madden and Farrah Madden; and his sister Carole Williamson (Tommy). He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
