He was predeceased by: his parents, Clarence Mathis and Blanche Mathis; his parents-in-law, D. C. and Mae Middleton; his brother Leon Mathis (Patsy); and his brothers-in-law, Tommy Coffman and Harrison Middleton.
He is survived by: his wife Diane Mathis; his sons, Christopher Mathis and Brent Mathis (Carrie); his grandchildren, Olivia and Lexie Mathis; his siblings, Edith Coffman, Cecil Mathis (Linda) and Calvin Mathis (Ann); and his sister-in-law Diane Middleton. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
