He was predeceased by: his parents, Bill Howard and Ada Gray Howard; and his siblings, Willie Mae Bishop, Patsy, Charles, Jimmy, Ricky and Allen Howard.
He is survived by: his wife Helen Higdon Howard; his children, Jeff Howard and Melissa Shelton (Craig); his grandchild Casey Shelton; and his sister Teresa Michaels (Rayburn Burns).
