He was predeceased by: his parents, Donald Ray and Margaret Marie Branum (King); and his grandparents, Jesse Harrison Branum and Jimmie Pauline Galey Branum. He is survived by: his wife Patricia Susan LoVellette Branum; his children, Jesse Harrison Branum and Sarah Galey Branum Ramsey; his son-in-law Foster Alexander Ramsey; his grandchildren, Hazel Galey Ramsey and Palfi Alexander Ramsey; his siblings, Steve Branum (Jackie) and Barbara Branum Lyons; his siblings-in-law, Steve LoVellette (Barbara) and Karen Armstrong; and his cousins, Randy, David, John Lyons, Stephen Branum and Ashley Branum Maurer. He is also survived by many nephews, nieces.

His popularity with students at CVCC led to teaching evening classes for over 25 years and came to an end during Covid.
