He was predeceased by: his wife Penny Wright McCord; his parents, Harvey John McCord and Lucille Twilley McCord; his siblings, Earl McCord, Jerry McCord, Edna Conaway and Lynn Davis; and his son-in-law Johnny Powell.

He is survived by: his children, Tim McCord (Tina) and Angie Powell; his grandchildren, Jake McCord (Roza) of Espoo, Finland, Cody Powell (Morgan) of Rome, Georgia and Jessica Davis (Tyson) of Seward, Alaska; his great grandchildren, Lucas McCord, Haskell Powell and Hall Powell; and his sisters, Eloise Dempsey, Sarah Rudine Wright and Carol Denault (Tom). He is also survived by his family, friends.

The family will accept flowers, or memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the New Nazareth Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
