He was predeceased by: his mother Frances Bedwell Cernut; his aunt Lois Bedwell; and his mother-in-law Frances Sutton Johnson. He is survived by: his wife Barbara Johnson Cernut; his daughter Angela Nichele Cernut; his grandchildren, Abbey Nichele Walsh, Alex Tanner Hall and Liam Edward Cernut; his great grandchild Dechlyn Ace Spires; his granddaughter Kaydence Elizabeth Mae Rochester; and his close friends, Dr. Barton Perry, Donna Watts, Doug, Pat Ford, Greg and Sharon Davis.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Perry Funeral Home (1611 Clarence E Chesnut Jr Bypass, Centre, AL 35960). A funeral service will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the Perry Funeral Home Chapel (1611 Clarence E Chesnut Jr Bypass, Centre, AL 35960). A burial will be held on Friday, October 9th 2026 at the Cherokee Memory Gardens (1250 Piedmont Hwy, Centre, AL 35960).
