She was predeceased by : her sons, Todd and Brett Matthews; her brother Junior Garner; her parents, Pauline "Sissy" Garner and Virgil Roden; and her stepfather Robert Garner.

She is survived by : her children, Johnny Matthews (Becky) of Forney and Kelly Matthews Reynolds of Forney; her grandchildren, Jeremy Matthews (Gladys), Leila Reaves (Jeffery), Ashlee Matthews, Mandi Cloud (Chris), Joseph Matthews, Emily Matthews, Tyler McCoy (Vada), Aly Holmes (Gunter) and Jensen Matthews; her sister Teresa Rhodes (John); her close friends, Jewell Smith, Carol Kitchens and Charles Vines; and her pets, Hank, Taz and Charlie. She is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Friendship Cemetery Fund or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.
