He was predeceased by : his parents, Walter Bates and Delma Bates. He is survived by : his wife Sharon Bates; his children, Greg Bates (Kelly) and Tara Reedy (Bruce); and his caregiver Shawn Covington. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 1 brother and 3 sisters.
