He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Mark and Jessie Ruth Haggard Abernathy. He is survived by: his wife Carolyn Bates Abernathy; his sons, Billy Ray Abernathy (Betty Ann) and Toby Gwin Abernathy; his sister Virginia "Dener" Slayton; and his grandchildren, Allison Graham (Aaron), Brooklyn Barnes (Timothy), Jamie Abernathy, Tyler Abernathy and Cheltzey Clements (Nick). He is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 28th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Perry Funeral Home (1611 Clarence E Chesnut Jr Bypass, Centre, AL 35960). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, June 29th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Perry Funeral Home Chapel (1611 Clarence E Chesnut Jr Bypass, Centre, AL 35960).
