He was predeceased by: his parents, Ruben Cornelius Thompson Sr. and Leona Goldman Thompson; and his siblings, Leroy, Boy, Sue, Elma, Kenneth, Sophie, Sis, Bert and Mary Catherine.

He is survived by: his wife Marjorie Thompson; his children, Kathy Harris (Scott), J. J. Thompson (Amy) and Robert Dees (Earline); his grandchildren, Kolby Thornton, Kyle Thornton, Brandon Woodard, Elizabeth Nadal, Bobby Dees and Jeremy Dees; and his siblings, Dean, Edith and Frances. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.

He dedicated many years to his career at Ciba Corporation, where he made invaluable contributions to the chemical plant and the community.
