He was predeceased by: his parents, Ollie Smelley and Robert Dallas Smelley; and his siblings, Glenda Smelley and Bobby Smelley. He is survived by: his wife Mollie Smelley; his daughters, Terri Williams (Andy) and Tara Hetzel (Gary); and his siblings, Ollie Myrie Wyatt, Carolyn Kirkland, Rhonda Patrick, Portcia Murphy and Steve Smelley. He is also survived by 3 Grandchildren; 5 Great-Grandchildren.

The family has requested no flowers but encourage donations to the Clanton First Baptist Disaster Relief Team, 210 6th Street North, Clanton, Alabama 35045.
