He was predeceased by: his parents, James William Hughes and Faith Yvonne Blackwell Hughes; his grandson Aaron Ackers; James W. Hughes and Faith Y. Hughes.
He is survived by: his wife Heidemarie Hughes of Clanton; his sons, George Foster Ackers (Monica) of Beaver Creek, Tommy Ackers (Teresa) of Bastrop and Stefan Ackers (Alison) of Brenan, Texas; and his siblings, Ann Lucas (Lee) of Monroe, Louisiana and Kenneth Hughes (Bobette) of Monroe, Louisiana.. He is also survived by nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren.
