He was predeceased by: his parents, Laurence Freeman and Alice Freeman; his former wife Helen Freeman; and his brothers, Milton, Dudley and Oscar.

He is survived by: his wife Sudi Smith Freeman; his children, Carol Freeman Rivera (Angel) and Douglas Freeman (Angela); his stepchildren, Robert Lee Smith (Terra Lee) and Robin Smith Bowden (Harvey); his brothers, Robert Freeman and Donald Porter (Shirley); his sister-in-law Geraldine Freeman; his grandchildren, G. L. Rivera, Brian Rivera (Cameryn), Candace Rivera, Helonna Freeman and Caria Freeman; his stepgrandchildren, Douglas Rountree (Malia), Dominique DuPree, Brian Smith (Jennifer), Brandon Smith, Sudie Rountree Whalen (Denis) and Stephanie Smith; his great grandchildren, Graciela Rivera, Roman Rivera, Eli Rivera and Host; and his stepgreat-grandchild Host. He is also survived by Nieces and Nephews.
