He was predeceased by: his parents, Layle Samford, Sr. and Pernie McCarty Samford; and his siblings, Jack Morrow, Phyllis M. Moates and Pam Ardledge.

He is survived by: his niece Michelle Coker (Rickey); his brother-in-law Kenneth Moates; his nephews, Mark Moates (Lisa), Jerry Wayne Arledge and William Arledge; and his close friend Robert King.
