He was predeceased by: his parents, George S. Patterson and Lula Aileen Foster Patterson; his daughters, Martha Jane Patterson and Karen Leigh Patterson; and his sisters, Myrtle Barnett, Gertrude Hill, Louise Wallace and Thelma Juanita Lackey.
He is survived by: his wife Martha Winslett Patterson of Clay County; his children, Stephanie Patterson Jordan (Jimmy Pettus) of Ashland, Steve Patterson (Tracy) of Clay County and Scott Patterson of Clay County; his siblings, Eugenia "Dinky" Watts of Talladega and Heron "Cotton" Patterson; and his grandchildren, Tiffanie Character (Jeremy), Constance Bailes (Ross), Chelsea Rush (Justin), Kaleigh Whiley (Landon), Candace Adams Conway (Austin), Amanda Patterson, Cassidy Evans (Aaron), Abbie Patterson and Kaitlyn Patterson. He is also survived by 15 great-grandchildren.
The lying in state will be held on Monday, June 9th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Marvin's Chapel. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 9th 2025 from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM at the Benefield Funeral Home-Ashland (85499 AL-9, Ashland, AL 36251). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 10th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Marvin's Chapel. A burial will be held on Tuesday, June 10th 2025 at the Adjoining Cemetery.
