He was predeceased by: his parents, Ludie Frank Avery Sr. and Lucille Mary Metts Avery; his brothers, Joe Avery, Curtis "Doug" Avery, McArthur Avery and Bobby Avery; and his stepchildren, Brenda Estes, Charles "Billy" Wooten and David Wooten.

He is survived by: his wife Polly Avery; his son Frankie Allen Avery (Amy) of Gray Court; his stepsons, Johnny Wooten (Kay) of Spartanburg and James Wooten (Lynn) of Joanna; his daughters, Linda James of Simpsonville and Lorie Campbell (Phillip) of Laurens; his stepdaughter Cindy Jones (David) of Laurens; and his siblings, George Avery, Jimmy Avery, Geraldine Morris, Virginia Nelson and Linda Penland. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
