He was predeceased by : his parents, Dewane Shumate and Flora Mae Winkle Fisher; and his son David Shumate. He is survived by : his wife Linda; his children, Michai Shumate, Dewane Shumate, Daniel Shumate, Shannon Langston, Marcell Shumate, Stacy Ray, Jennifer Minor and Rachel Shumate; and his siblings, Ricky Shumate (Kathy) and Sara Waldrop (Lynn). He is also survived by his 20 grandchildren; his 8 great-grandchildren; and a host of nephew and nieces.
