He was predeceased by: his parents, Frank "Elp" Dunnaway and Dorothy "Peachie" Dunnaway; his son Timothy Dunnaway; and his sister Bonnie Jean Whitsell. He is survived by: his wife Mary Powell Dunnaway; his children, Michael Dunnaway (Hillary), Jason Dunnaway (Rachel), Kristy Peoples, Josh Dunnaway, Sr. (Gabby) and Chelsey Dunnaway; his grandchildren, Peyton (Justyn), Tucker (Madison), Jaycelyn, Noah, Eli, Annaleigh, Ethan, Dylan, Carson of Joshua, Clara Grace, Laney and Coleman (Halia); his great grandchildren, Colton, Easton, Waylon and Ezekiel; and his sister Peggy Mosier (Harry). He is also survived by his nieces and nephews.
