He was predeceased by: his parents, Dewey Whitehead and Marie Whitehead; and his wife Barbara Pennington Whitehead. He is survived by: his children, Deborah Culpepper (Michael) and Leo Tidwell (Sue); his grandchildren, Rachel Buck (Michael), Stephanie Knauss (Justin), Danielle Thompson (Talon), Hannah Tidwell and Ronnie Tidwell; and his great grandchildren, Ashley, Taliah, Zane and Jemma. He is also survived by siblings, many fond nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many good friends.
