He was predeceased by: his parents, Carol Pratt Finlayson and Marguerite Folsom Finlayson; his sons, Michael and Hal Finlayson; and his siblings, Pratt Finlayson and Shirley McKinney.

He is survived by: his wife Rita Finlayson; his children, David Finlayson (Becca) and Wendy Smith (Mark); his grandchildren, River Finlayson, Laney and Avery Smith; and his nieces, Blakely Lindsey, Haley Huckabaa and Jenna Eagerton. He is also survived by other nieces and nephews.
