He is survived by: his wife Mary Elizabeth Phillips Mitchell; his children, Rhonda Mason (Ken) and Robert; his grandchildren, Nathan Mitchell (Sarah), Nolan Mitchell (Alyssa), Ashton Mitchell, Kristie Mason and Karlie Cotter (Chandler); and his great grandchild Elora Mitchell. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name to St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
